Spearmint Energy Tackles Single-Use Plastics in January Beach Clean Up Day

We were thrilled to kick off 2023 by taking part in a beach cleanup organized by Clean Miami Beach, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to organizing cleanups of beaches and the surrounding wetlands of Miami.

Clean Miami Beach’s goal is to educate the local Miami-Dade youth and broader community about how all residents can reuse, re-purpose, and reduce the consumption of plastic.

Single-use plastics significantly contribute to today’s climate crisis, creating a confluence of destructive problems around our water sources and wildlife.

Spearmint believes that it is up to members of the Miami-Dade community to work together in a coordinated effort to ensure prosperity and health of the surrounding waters. As our company grows, Spearmint Energy is committed to ensuring we are part of the solution, both in our community and beyond.

Twenty-two Spearmint employees, family and friends came together to remove 154 pounds of litter and ocean debris from the beautiful shorelines in Miami Beach.

Our ocean clean-up with Clean Miami Beach helped track down:

  • 55 plastic bottles
  • 42 dolly/wheel parts
  • 40 Styrofoam pieces
  • 17 bottle caps
  • 15 plastic grocery bags
  • 15 glass bottles
  • 15 aluminum cans
  • 13 straws
